F1 RC Cars 2012 Chinese Grand Prix
Round 3 of the F1 RC Club 2012 season was another fun filled Sunday afternoon of racing radio controlled F1 cars like the Tamiya F103, F104 and 3Racing F109.
First is welcome to two new racers, Bobit and Dennis. Happy to see new racers constantly joining the F1 R/C Club.
Choosing the concourse winner. It was a difficult choice between the Brawn GP (middle) and the Ferrari (F201). It's a tie.
Up first was the 30 minute qualifying session, fastest lap to determine grid position. On pole is veteran racer Allan "Oldskul" Colico with a 19.04 lap in his Tamiya LeMans. Second is the only female driver Porsha Mangilit with her Tamiya F103. And third is Christopher Kho with his Tamiya F103GT Courage. Three different chassis and bodies. Good to see the "Rules" work in keeping things competitive irregardless of r/c car used.
Next is the triple A-mains of 15 minutes each. Best two results to count. Tiebreaker is the fastest 15 minute run. In the first A-main, pole sitter Allan Colico had technical troubles throughout the race. Rookie Gabe took advantage of this to secure his first ever win. Good job Gabe!
In the second A-main, pole sitter Allan Colico reeled of fast laps to slowly pull away from the field. But with only 1 lap to go, a crash as well as his Tamiya LeMans slowing down unexpectedly allowed Gabe to grab the win. Congrats to Gabe for winning the 2012 F1 RC Car Club Chinese GP!
The final A-main is a battle for the remaining podium positions. Porsha, Chris, Allan, Jun and rookie Dennis all had a chance. At the start Allan again took off followed closely by Porsha. However an accident with another car ended the race for Allan. Porsha took the lead and reeled of consistent laps. Gabe slowly closed in for the lead and narrowed it to 10 seconds. At the finish it was Porsha, Gabe and Chris. It was the first win for Porsha in the series and the fastest run for the day. Congrats Porsha!
The 2012 F1 RC Club saw two new faces on the podium. Such an exciting race series.

After three rounds, the drivers standing. Still seven races to go, and the battle is just starting to heat up.
It is a 10 race series with best 8 results to count. Point system follows real F1 scoring. Other F1 race photos, videos and results.
Not to be left behind are the rookie drivers Dennis, Allan F., Jerri, Bobit and Carlos. They are getting faster and will soon challenge for the win. Keep at it guys!
Fourth round will be the 2012 F1 RC Car Club Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix in April at JP Raceway. Newcomers feel free to join our easy going and fun atmosphere of F1 rc car racing.
