KYOSHO MINI-Z
Hi There!
With Christmas around the corner, and snow in some parts of
the world, I was thinking... what should I write about in this issue
of RC Car Tips?
Then it came to me, the perfect rc car for playing indoors or as
a gift for Christmas is the Kyosho Mini-Z. Why?
Because the Kyosho Mini-Z is, at 1/28 scale, very small.
It is small enough to fit in your hand. And this mini rc car is light
enough to be given as a Christmas gift. Here is the page about
the Kyosho Mini-Z.

Enjoy!
Joel
P.S. Although it is not snowing in my area... I do have an indoor
rc track in my own garage. I think I will grab a couple of mini-z
for Christmas and have some fun.

TIP OF THE DAY - PINCH
TEST FOR TUNING NITRO ENGINES
Here is the conclusion of last week's nitro
engine tuning tips.
While at 3/4 throttle, pinch the fuel line for about a second,
then let go. The engine rpm should rise temporarily because the
lack of fuel for that second creates a lean situation. But the engine
should not die out.
If the engine dies out while doing the pinch test, then the mixture
setting is too lean. Adjust accordingly.
In the end, a properly tuned nitro engine will idle smoothly, has
a good throttle response (i.e. accelerates smoothly), and provides
a lot of power at high speeds while still running on the rich side.
Remember, these are just tips. The best guide to tuning your
specific engine is to follow the tuning tips that come with the
manual.
Joel
P.S. For next week, I will answer a reader's question regarding
electronic speed controls (i.e. forward current, brake current,
peak current, BEC voltage, on-resistance).
