HPI Racing is coming up with 2 new models, the HPI RS4 electric rc touring car, and the R40 nitro touring car.
The HPI RS4 would be shaft driven, which is a big difference since HPI cars are traditionally belt driven. Maybe shaft driven rc cars are gaining an edge over belt driven rc cars.
The HPI R40 is professional 1/10th scale nitro touring car. The main design uses foam rubber tires, 2-speed transmission, vented steel disk brakes, very low center of gravity, center mounted fuel tank and receiver batteries, belt drive train, and is designed for 200mm wide bodies.
Team Associated has a big new product... the 4WD Monster GT. This huge nitro monster truck is powered by a big .21 engine and weighs 12 pounds! It has a 2-speed forward and 2-speed reverse transmission. This thing is a monster! Tentative release date is fall 2003.
Team Trinity has something new for the summer of 2003, the Nitro G4 touring car. This 1/10 nitro touring car is designed to have a very low center of gravity. This was accomplished by making the 2-speed transmission only 2/3 the size of other 2 speeds. The clutch has also been reduced in size to 30mm. Servos have a laid down position on the chassis. Available in June 2003.
Tamiya has a new touring car chassis, the TT-01 and the world class TB-Evolution III Surikarn Limited.
