MINI RC TRUCKS

Hello Again!

Having been in the rc hobby for over 25 years, I have to admit
my excitement for rc cars and trucks is not the same as it used
to be.

But... now I am excited again. I am getting the same feelings as
I did when I first saw Tamiya rc cars when I was living in a
country called Brunei.

The reason for my renewed excitement for the rc hobby is the
new mini rc trucks. First there was the 1/18th scale Losi Mini-T,
now there is the Kyosho Mini-Z Monster, which looks like a
1/28th scale version of the Kyosho Mad Force Nitro Truck.

Why the excitement? It is because I am currently having problems
finding places to play with my rc cars. With these mini rc trucks
I can now play them indoors or in my own rc track in my garage.
And because of their small size, several of them can be raced
together.

Looks like I have a Christmas gift for myself this coming
Christmas :)

Joel

P.S. I am adding pages of information regarding mini rc trucks.
The first page is up, not much info yet, but that will change.

TIP OF THE DAY - FUN WAY TO BREAK-IN MOTORS

Breaking-in electric motors is one way to get more power, but
it takes time... especially when we would just like to open the
box and start playing with our rc trucks.

One way to break-in a motor and have fun at the same time is
to do the following:

1. Find a big, flat, smooth, open space to run your rc truck.

2. Undergear your car by using a very small pinion gear, maybe
3- 4 tooth smaller than what is suggested in the manual.

3. Run your truck, but do it in a way that is gentle on the electric
motor (i.e. accelerate smoothly, release the throttle smoothly,
turn smoothly).

4. Avoid using reverse or braking.

5. Try to "coast" the rc truck as much as possible. Coasting means
releasing the throttle and just letting the truck roll on it own
momentum. Doing this will rotate the engine, break-in the brushes
without applying any electricity from the battery.

6. Doing this for about 3 battery packs or around 30 minutes
should be enough to break-in your stock Mabuchi 540 motor.
Remember to allow the motor to cool down between battery
pack changes.

Have fun!
