Tamiya Mini Racing at Meralco
20 March 2010 - We were invited to a Tamiya M-chassis racing event to be held in the Meralco Employees day celebration. R/C car racing was one of the featured events for the day and exposed radio control car racing to thousands of people and most importantly to hundreds of kids. Here is a view of the parking lot race track. Yes those are robots and they did the marshalling. ;) ![]() It was fun and challenging to drive when you had kids squeezing between your legs during the race!
Here is my Tamiya M05 with Swift body and HPI Solaris mini tires. In the background is my fellow racer Rey. Wearing dark sunglasses... I wonder what he is looking at?
Could it be this...
Or the cute robots... ![]() Or maybe simply looking at the CUTE people :)
As to the racing, after 3 qualifiers, here is the grid position. Luckily I am on pole position for the triple A-mains.
Here is a short video of the first A-main. Tight track but fun and close racing action. Mine is the white and grey body. Lucky to get the overall win for the event.
And here is a group photo of the racers. I'm the one 3rd from the left in black.
Nice trophy to take home to my daughter.
Photo: Norman, Joel (me), Tutoy This was a great event. No race fee, free lunch and raffle prizes for every racer, what more could we ask for. Plus a chance to demonstrate to thousands of people how fun r/c car racing is and hopefully more will join the hobby. Thanks to companies like Meralco who sponsor and help promote this fun hobby. Hopefully more companies will join in the fun!
